REFINING THE ESTATE SALE PROCESS

The Discerning Eye presents a specialized service criteria, unique to the market for both clients and shoppers alike.

In addition to working diligently on research & education to achieve the highest sale value of your possessions, it is equally important to The Discerning Eye that your estate and belongings are represented in a respectful and dignified way.

Staging

We prepare for each sale with particular attention the home’s specific individual orientation, size and contents. Your home will be meticulously staged with emphasis on featuring the items to be sold in a curated experience, optimizing the overall sale experience.

Inventory

Our specialized service criteria includes a complete inventory of the entire contents of your home and individual research for each and every item. We take great care in educating ourselves in the potential resale value of the items entrusted to us and are equally experienced in presenting these items for sale in an aesthetically pleasing environment.

Tagging

In addition to our inventory process, we also tag each item for sale with an individual price tag and barcode, allowing us to catalog and manage the purchase process in detail. Full transparent reporting, specifying the item sale price and transaction history is then included as part of our service criteria to our clients at the completion of every estate sale.

Additional Notable Details

Timeline

We require approximately a three to four week time period to properly prepare for a three day sale. As each home and collection is very individual, we may require additional time depending on the extent of items to be sold. We are very thorough in our research and there is often occasion to enlist services of outside appraisers and experts when needed.

Attendance

We limit and closely monitor the number of people allowed entry into our sales based on the size and capacity of the home, since our sales can attract a great number of visitors per day. In addition, it is customary for us to have a team member assigned to each area of a home to ensure that all guests are being attended to and any inquiries pertaining to the items for sale are being addressed.

Marketing

Our sales are advertised on a national estate sale-specific website for broad reach in advance of the event, averaging 8,000-10,000 hits per sale. In addition to featuring upcoming sales on our website homepage, our email subscribers receive advance notification through our private mailing list.

Online Resale

In addition to representing your personal collection within the home, we also offer the opportunity to feature particular estate collections in our eBay store, reaching a broader international audience. These collections are generally limited to jewelry, coins, and smaller collectables.

Clear-Out

Our services include a complete clear out: at the completion of a sale, we will make all necessary arrangements to remove any potential remaining items, with the exception of any particular items identified and/or discussed prior to the commencement of the sale agreement.

Insurance

We are a fully insured service provider with liability coverage for the items entrusted in our care.

“We live fifteen hundred miles from Denver and were overwhelmed with the daunting process of closing out our family member’s estate. The Discerning Eye came highly recommended through a referral who boasted about their enormous following and unmatched sales.  After meticulous preparation and ongoing communication, Rebecka curated a flawless estate sale that showcased our family member’s life story in a meaningful way.  Rebecka has a literal, discerning eye for staging, is honest, and phenomenal at her craft.  While it can be difficult to relinquish control, Rebecka is completely transparent and communicative throughout the process.  If you have the opportunity to engage with Rebecka (and her team), do not think twice! Take a step back, focus on your grief and memories, and trust her process.  Thank you, Discerning Eye, for giving us great peace in honoring the life of our loved one.”
